Hobby Farms in Kuna: What Buyers Should Know

Kuna is where Ada County's hobby farms live: dirt roads, corrals, and big sky on the flats south of Meridian, about 23 to 27 minutes from downtown Boise. The town has grown into a bedroom community, but its rural core, from the Kuna Stampede rodeo to FFA, is what draws buyers who want land with an Ada County address.

The flats

Kuna's acreage spreads across the dry-farm flats where sage gives way to irrigated ground. Hobby farms here typically come with corrals and outbuildings already in place, and the Owyhee Mountains frame every sunset. North of town, newer large-lot subdivisions reach toward Meridian; south, the parcels get deeper and the roads get quieter.

Water and septic reality

Well and septic are standard outside town, and most acreage carries irrigation water for pasture or crops. City services exist in the newer subdivisions but stop at the town's edge, so utility type is a first-question item on any Kuna listing, and we review well logs and septic records on every property we represent.

Schools and the rodeo town

The Kuna Joint School District #3 serves most of the city, with some northern areas in West Ada. The community's personality is proudly agricultural: the Kuna Stampede rodeo returned in 2022 after a seven-decade pause and now fills the town every September, and FFA remains a steady presence in the schools.
