Star, Idaho: Small-Town Acreage Near Boise
Star offers one-acre lots in newer neighborhoods and working farms along the Boise River, split between Ada and Canyon counties about 25 to 30 minutes from downtown Boise. It is the smallest town in the metro that still feels like a town, with a Main Street, a July 4th celebration, and county-line quirks you should understand before buying.
Two sides of the county line
Star straddles the Ada/Canyon boundary, and the line changes real things: school district, county services, and utility patterns. Most of the city is served by the West Ada School District, while a portion falls in the Middleton School District #134, and block by block the answers differ. We check the county and district for every parcel before we show it.
What acreage looks like
On one side sit newer large-lot subdivisions with city services; on the other, river-bottom farms with irrigation water, hay ground, and genuine rural character. Lot sizes run from one acre to several, and some of the most attractive small farms in the northwest valley are within a mile of Star's downtown.
The small-town life
Star's Hometown Celebration on the 4th of July, the Star Light Parade in December, Friday concerts by the river in summer, and a fall festival give the town a calendar. Eagle is ten minutes down State Street for groceries and services, and Boise is a 25 to 30 minute drive.
